Oregrown Industries, Oregon’s premier craft cannabis company, has teamed up with Central Oregon rising star New Growth Clothing to develop a line of locally manufactured, eco-conscious activewear and outdoor gear. The collaboration launches this fall with knit beanies and performance hoodies and will grow to include backpacks and technical gear.
“New Growth is a natural partner for Oregrown as we build out our lifestyle brand,” said Oregrown co-founder Chrissy Hadar, who brings a background in finance and fashion to her role as Oregrown’s brand manager. “Both companies are committed to local sourcing, but more than that, to supporting community members, artists, athletes, and local businesses run by people who are passionate about what they do. New Growth shares Oregrown’s obsession with attention to detail and to beautiful, functional design.”
Dan Bruton, who founded New Growth Clothing with his brother Derek in 2011, agrees. “Whether it’s cannabis or clothing, Oregrown is all about doing something great. That’s why they are a perfect fit for us.”
Oregrown, founded by a group of friends in 2013, launched its branded apparel online even before the company had harvested its first crop of organic cannabis or opened the doors of its flagship dispensary in downtown Bend, Oregon. Hadar said early sales to customers around the world convinced her that the brand had an appeal beyond cannabis.
“When people think of Oregon, they think of a particular lifestyle. It’s connected to the environment, to the outdoors, to a more organic way of living, and that is what the Oregrown brand represents.” Hadar said. “Our customers, whether or not they consume cannabis, are active and motivated. They are out there snowboarding, surfing, skiing, climbing, hiking, and mountain biking with their friends. They are creative and curious about the world. Oregrown is an authentic and compelling expression of our values as people and as a company.”
